What you need to start
Minimum
- • A computer
- • Internet access for downloads
- • A folder or USB drive for saving work
- • Willingness to take screenshots and document your process

- • 16GB or 32GB USB drive
- • Cisco Packet Tracer, VirtualBox, Wireshark, Nmap
- • Ethernet cable
- • Optional: second computer, used router
- • Optional: RJ45 connectors and crimping tool

No equipment? Start here.
- No router: use Cisco Packet Tracer.
- No second computer: use a virtual machine in VirtualBox.
- No cable tools: study the T568B reference and complete a diagram activity.
- Cannot install software: use screenshots, videos, and paper-based planning templates until you can access a lab computer.
- No internet on lab computer: use a separate device to download files and transfer via USB.
