Two ways to use this site

The Network Management & Telecommunications Lab Kit is a beginner-friendly hands-on learning space. It supports enrolled students using the official workbook and the USB Lab Kit, and it also gives independent learners a clear self-study path.

For enrolled students

Class Companion

  • How to use the workbook week by week
  • How to set up the USB lab drive
  • How to save and name screenshots
  • What to bring to class
  • Where to find templates
  • How to prepare for the midterm and final

If you're taking the class, use this site alongside your printed workbook and USB Lab Kit. Your instructor may give additional directions, deadlines, and approved lab targets — always follow class instructions first.

For self-study learners

Self-Study Path

  • How to use the site without being enrolled
  • What equipment is optional vs required
  • What software you may need
  • How to create a personal lab folder
  • How to pace yourself
  • How to build a beginner networking portfolio

You don't need to be enrolled to use this site. Move through the modules in order, save screenshots of your work, complete the reflection prompts, and build a personal networking portfolio as you go.

Either way, please read the Responsible Use page before working with Wireshark, Nmap, or Ncat.
